Hello, I'm Jax
I am a professional creative in sunny Southern California.
My expertise is developing custom office furniture for unique and branded environments. Focused on the complete project experience from evolving initial workstation designs to overseeing the engineering and installation process. Before diving into custom furniture, I worked as a trade show designer for both custom and modular booths. Both positions have afforded me the experience to work with varied clientele in design development as well as practice working with a variety of local manufacturers and trades.
Before studying Industrial Design at The Art Institute of California - Orange County, I had a variety of creative jobs. One of my favorites was being a sign artist for a local Trader Joe’s. This fast-paced environment allows me to exercise my skills as a designer and gives me daily experience in copy writing, marketing and point of purchase design. As every sign is handmade without computer aide, it was also a joy to work with physical mediums every day. A couple other interesting positions I’ve had would be doing special fx makeup for the Queen Mary's Dark harbor event, or drawing caricatures in Downtown Disney.
My first love, and degree was the Theatrical Arts. While I did not end up chasing theater professionally, the experience has been essential to my growth. Theater studies have aided in relating to clients and teammates, and enhanced my design skills with abilities to analyze and empathize with the human condition. Deadlines are ingrained in theater and have helped me develop comprehensive time management skills. Working in a theater environment also fostered my love for collaborating with other skilled artists. It is amazing what a group of likeminded people can accomplish when they work hand in hand.
